The Turkish and Azerbaijani parliaments have been far ahead of Western countries in terms of privileges given to women, Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, told journalists in Baku, Report informs.
Oktay highlighted that this progress stems from traditions: "Women will continue playing the role as decision-makers in all areas of administration."
He explained that in Türkiye, the tradition of parliament and consultation dates back to the history of Turkism.
The Turkish MP also highlighted that when Azerbaijan and Armenia work together without interference from third countries, they can find the path to peace. "With the achievement of peace, there will be a chance for development in the region. Claims that 'Azerbaijan is forcing Armenia to change its constitution' are completely baseless. Azerbaijan simply doesn't want this issue to be left to future generations, and we fully support this."
