The Constitution of Armenia holds little significance for its citizens, as they believe it is ineffective, Armenian expert Onnik J. Krikorian said, Report informs.
Krikorian shared his insights during an online speech at a panel discussion themed "Obstacles to a Peace Agreement in the Armenian Constitution and Laws," at the international conference titled "The Main Obstacle to the Peace Agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia" organized by the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center).
The expert pointed out that Armenia's Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, also desires change and innovation, but constitutional amendments remain a contentious issue in the country.
"Nikol Pashinyan has the ability to positively influence and prepare the people. The Prime Minister of Armenia has discussed the issue of constitutional amendments several times, acknowledging that it poses an obstacle to peace," he stated.
The expert emphasized that despite his personal opinion of Nikol Pashinyan, he believes the Prime Minister is sincere in his efforts to address this issue.
