British MP: Event against Islamophobia in Baku is significant contribution to fight against this phenomenon

The international conference themed “Embracing Diversity: Tackling Islamophobia in 2024” organized in Azerbaijan makes a significant contribution to the fight against Islamophobia, a member of the British parliament, Afzal Khan, told Report.

“First of all I want to congratulate Azerbaijan for holding such an important conference and I also want to congratulate them the way they have timed it. They started this conference on Friday, on the day when the world is celebrating the International Day of Women and we know the issue of Islamophobia everywhere, the biggest victims of Islamophobia are women,” he said.

“I think the need is important because this is a problem that is not new, it has a long history, but one thing also is clear that in the long history, the problem is getting worse and therefore the urgency required to solve the problem also becomes even more important,” Afzal Khan emphasized.

He noted that Azerbaijan has done a tremendous job, bringing together many experts and specialists from all over the world at the conference in Baku.
