The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan is carrying out its responsibilities in the fight against transboundary water pollution, said Rovshan Mirzayev, Deputy Head of the Economic Cooperation Department at Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, Report informs.
Speaking at a panel discussion on "Azerbaijan and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO): Opportunities and perspectives," Mirzayev noted that transboundary waters are managed based on the national water strategy:
"These waters are a key part of biodiversity. The MFA is carrying out its responsibilities regarding transboundary water pollution. Azerbaijan participates in conferences on the blue economy and ocean management. This participation has especially intensified within the framework of COP29. This year, the World Ocean Conference will be held in France, where the issue of participation may also be on the agenda."
