Polish official: Extreme weather causes more environmental damage than before

Audits show that extreme weather conditions are starting to cause more damage to the environment, Marian Banas, the head of Poland's Supreme Audit Office, told journalists in Baku, Report informs.

"The climate is changing, more water evaporates from increasingly warming seas and oceans, and drought periods are becoming longer. Our audits show that our country needs more infrastructure against floods. Our audits prevented the collapse of one of the largest river dams and thus saved one of Poland's largest cities. Our audits also show that there has been significant progress in flood management projects in Poland funded by the World Bank," he noted.
