Number of transactions using payment cards goes up in Azerbaijan

As of December 1, 2021, the number of payment cards in Azerbaijan reached 10,858,000 pieces.

Report informs citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan that this is 1.7% higher compared to November 1, 17.6% from January 1, and 18.8% from December 1, 2020.

32.3% of payment cards or 3,514,000 are social cards. This is up 2.6% on an annualized basis.

During the reporting period, the number of salary cards, having increased by 5.2%, amounted to 2,626,000, the number of other payment cards, having increased by 56.2%, amounted to 3,352,000, the number of credit cards, having increased by 27.3%, amounted to 1,366,000.

The cost of operations carried out by debit and credit cards in Azerbaijan for 11 months amounted to AZN3,732,000,000. This is 10.1% higher compared to the previous month, 18.2% higher compared to the beginning of the year, and 50.8% higher compared to the same period last year.
