The Istanbul Stock Exchange resumed operations on Wednesday following a February 8 decision to suspend trading, Report informs via TASS.
The exchange is now up and running.
"Today, the exchange resumed its work. Trades are going on in the usual mode," a representative of the exchange told TASS.
The Istanbul Stock Exchange earlier announced that it was suspending trading following the devastating earthquake. It was also decided to cancel all transactions made on February 8. These measures were taken in order to "ensure the reliable, transparent, efficient, competitive and stable functioning of the exchange."
After the opening of trading on the morning of February 8, the main index of the exchange (BIST100) fell by over 5% and an automatic trading suspension system was activated to protect against excessive volatility and panic among traders. The second time the system stopped trading when the index fell by more than 7%.
