IMF revises Azerbaijan's сurrent account surplus forecasts

According to the forecasts of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in 2025, the current account surplus of the balance of payments of Azerbaijan, as previously expected, will amount to 7.8% of GDP, Report informs referring to the IMF.
In 2026, the surplus of the current account will decrease to 4.1% of GDP (previously predicted - 4.9%), and in 2027 to 0.5% of GDP (1.3%).
At the end of 2028, the current account deficit is predicted to be 2.4% of GDP (1.7%), which in 2029 will increase to 3.3% (2.5%), and in 2030 will reach 4.2% of GDP (previously not predicted). In 2024, the country's current account surplus amounted to $4.7 billion, which is equal to 6.3% of GDP.
The World Bank forecasts Azerbaijan's current account surplus at 11.6% of GDP in 2025.
In subsequent years, the bank expects this figure to decline: to 5.4% of GDP in 2026, to 3.8% of GDP in 2027, to 3.6% of GDP in 2028, and to 3.4% of GDP in 2029. According to forecasts by the Azerbaijani government, the current account surplus is expected to be 5.6% of GDP in 2025. In 2025-2028, taking into account forecasts for oil and gas production, the current account surplus will be about 3% of GDP per year.
The Central Bank of Azerbaijan expects a current account surplus of $4 billion in 2025 (in January, it forecast $5.5 billion), and $3.5 billion in 2026.
