Azerbaijan records $275 million current account deficit in H1

In the first half of this year, Azerbaijan registered a balance of payments deficit of $274.9 million, compared with a surplus of $648.1 million during the same period last year.
According to Report, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, the overall deficit arose from a $2.317 billion surplus in the country"s current account (11.7% lower than a year earlier), a $2.4 million deficit in the capital account (which was a surplus last year), a $2.759 billion deficit in the financial account (up 24.9%), and a $169 million surplus in balancing items (down 27%).
