SOCAR's plant in Türkiye increases LPG production by over 52%

In January-February 2025, the STAR Oil Refinery, an asset of the Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) in Türkiye, produced nearly 47,386 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), Report informs, citing the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

This amount is 16,250 tons or 52.2% more compared to the first two months of 2024.

In February, STAR Oil Refinery produced 25,580 tons of LPG. This is 10,493 tons or 69.5% more compared to the same period in 2024.

Overall, in January-February 2025, oil refineries in Türkiye produced a total of more than 167,592 tons of LPG, which is 17,144 tons or 11.4% more compared to the first two months of 2024. In February alone, a total of nearly 85,428 tons of LPG was produced, which is 9,627 tons or 12.7% more compared to the figure from a year ago.

STAR was opened on October 19, 2018. The foundation of the plant was laid on October 5, 2011. From September 2019, the plant began operating at full capacity. The plant has an annual crude oil processing capacity of 13 million tons. The facility can process Urals, Azeri Light and Kirkuk oil types. Its main products are diesel fuel (4.8 million tons), jet fuel, naphtha (1.6 million tons), liquefied petroleum gas, mixed xylene, and petroleum coke.

STAR was the first to receive Türkiye's Strategic Investment Incentive Document.
