Japanese company: Satellite technologies essential for Azerbaijan's ecological monitoring

Monitoring Azerbaijan's ecological situation through satellite systems is necessary, Vincent Kessler, a Singapore citizen, Executive Officer and General Manager of Synspective SG Pte. Ltd., told Report.

According to Kessler, Azerbaijan's extensive water basins and rich natural resources require ecological monitoring to be carried out with more modern tools.

"Azerbaijan's water basins in the Caspian Sea are under environmental impact due to oil exploration and production. By using satellite data, it is possible to more accurately assess the impacts of these activities and protect the sea," he noted.

The executive officer added that Azerbaijan's territory is much larger compared to Singapore, which necessitates monitoring ecological risks - landslides, fires, and other natural disasters - on a larger scale:

"Satellite technologies are one of the most effective tools for monitoring such risks. Considering the size of the territory and climate diversity, Azerbaijan is a very suitable country for the application of these technologies."

He also stated that the Synspective company has already successfully implemented similar satellite projects for ecological monitoring in India, Indonesia, and Thailand, and is ready to apply this experience to Azerbaijan as well.
