IGB transports over 1 billion kWh of gas

Over 1 billion kWh were transported via the gas interconnector Greece-Bulgaria in the first month of commercial operation of the gas pipeline, ICGB told Report.

The total amount of natural gas for the period October 1 - November 1, 2022, reaches 1,105,908,000 kWh or 95,000,000 cubic meters, the company said.

Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria was inaugurated in early October. It provides for the transportation to Bulgaria of the gas produced within the framework of the second stage of Shahdeniz gas condensate field development in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

Bulgargaz EAD signed the contract with the Shahdeniz consortium for the supply of 1 billion cubic meters of gas from Shahdeniz-2 field. Azerbaijani natural gas can meet 25-30% of Bulgaria's needs.

150 kilometers of the 182-kilometer pipeline run through Bulgaria. The annual pumping capacity of the interconnector is expected at 3 billion to 5 billion cubic meters.
