Azerbaijan starts selling methanol to new market

In the first eight months of 2022, Azerbaijan exported 319,882 tons (94% more year-on-year) of methanol (methyl alcohol) for $92.504 million (2.8 times more year-on-year), Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported 90,329 tons (+13.7%) of methanol to Turkiye for $27.467 million (73% more than a year ago), 96,285 tons (+4 times) to the Netherlands for $26.754 million (+5.5 times), 65,458 tons (+5.3 times) to Romania for $18.744 million (+7.7 times), 28,732 tons (+2 times) to Italy for $8.215 million (+2.9 times), 22,609 tons to Spain for $6.666 million (there was no supply a year ago).

This year, for the first time in the last 11 years, supplies were made to Turkmenistan: 26.83 tons for $8,850.

Last year, 45.2% of the 357,720 tons of methanol exported by Azerbaijan (to 9 countries) went to Turkiye, 14.8% to the Netherlands, and 9.2% to Israel.
