Azerbaijan sees 34% growth in revenues from polyethylene exports  

In January-March 2022, Azerbaijan exported 34,202.75 tons of polyethylene in a primary form worth $47.236 million, respectively, up 1.3% and up 34.4% from the previous year, Report informs referring to the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications.

In the reporting period, polyethylene exports accounted for 6.5% of non-oil exports, for 0.6% of total exports of Azerbaijan.

Polyethylene and polypropylene are produced at the SOCAR Polymer plant in Azerbaijan. The SOCAR Polymer project includes plants for the production of polypropylene with an annual capacity of 184,000 tons and the production of high-density polyethylene with a yearly capacity of 120,000 tons. The opening of the polypropylene plant took place on July 18, 2018, with the participation of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Italy, Ilham Aliyev and Sergio Mattarella.
