Azerbaijan's methanol production down 10% in Jan.-May 2025

In January-May 2025, 183,800 tons of methanol (methyl alcohol) were produced in Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistics Committee.

This figure is 10.1% less compared to the first five months of 2024.

As of June 1, 2025, there was a finished product remainder of 32,800 tons in the country.

Methanol is produced at the Methanol Plant of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in the Garadagh district of Baku. The plant, which was commissioned in 2013, has been operating under the management of SOCAR's subsidiary - SOCAR Methanol LLC since 2016, and since August 2017, it has been transferred to the company's ownership. The enterprise has the capacity to produce 650,000-700,000 tons of methanol annually. Natural gas and desalinated water are used as raw materials in production.
