Azerbaijan's methanol output drops by 9% in 1H2025

In the first half of 2025, Azerbaijan produced 227,700 tons of methanol (methyl alcohol), marking a 9% decline year-on-year, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistical Committee.
As of July 1, 2025, there was a finished product remainder of 37,200 tons in the country.
Methanol is produced at the Methanol Plant of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in the Garadagh district of Baku. The plant, which was commissioned in 2013, has been operating under the management of SOCAR's subsidiary - SOCAR Methanol LLC since 2016, and since August 2017, it has been transferred to the company's ownership. The enterprise has the capacity to produce 650,000-700,000 tons of methanol annually. Natural gas and desalinated water are used as raw materials in production.
