Baku is ready to consider the option of purchasing the LUKOIL Neftohim Burgas oil refinery in Bulgaria if a specific proposal is received, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador in Sofia Huseyn Huseynov said, Report informs referring to Euronews Bulgaria.
“If an offer is made to purchase an oil refinery in Burgas, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) and our government are ready to consider it,” he noted.
The diplomat added that for a substantive discussion there must be a concrete proposal, “which does not exist yet.”
LUKOIL began operating in Bulgaria in October 1999, becoming the owner of a controlling stake in the Burgas refinery with a capacity of 8.8 million tons. The company also operates a network of more than 500 filling stations in the country.
