Ammayev: Foreign companies show interest in renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan

The total technical potential of wind energy in the Azerbaijani section of the Caspian Sea is estimated at 157 GW, Deputy Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy under the Energy Ministry Tabriz Ammayev told Report.

“In general, the wind energy potential of the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is very high. According to the World Bank forecast, its technical potential is 157 GW. A roadmap has been drawn up with the International Finance Corporation for the effective use of this potential,” Ammayev said.

He reminded that the Energy Ministry attracted ACWA Power (Saudi Arabia) and Masdar (UAE) companies to implement pilot projects in the field of renewable energy sources.

“Other foreign energy companies are also showing interest in cooperation in this area,” he added.
