Climate change topics will be reflected in educational programs in Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Idris Isayev told a conference on accelerating research and cooperation for climate action held within the framework of Baku Climate Action Week, Report informs.
According to him, all countries, including Azerbaijan, should try to prevent the consequences of climate problems and make appropriate decisions in this direction: "By 2030, the temperature increase should not be higher than 1.5 percent."
The deputy minister stated that education is a very important element in the fight against the consequences of climate change: "Because education is the best method of enlightening people, especially young people and children. Steps should be taken in secondary and higher education institutions in this regard. In the 2024/2025 academic year, along with the number of students admitted to higher education, the number of specialties related to climate change and interest in them has also increased. There will be changes in educational programs in this direction. We should determine a strategy for teaching green skills to young people, and there should be serious activity from educational and scientific institutions."
