Deputy Minister: Transition to green economy imperative to curb global warming

Accurately assessing the impact of climate change on a country's socio-economic development and people's lives, and identifying modern approaches and initiatives based on this assessment, is crucial for Azerbaijan, as it is for all countries worldwide, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Anar Aliyev said at an international conference in Baku on September 26, Report informs.

The deputy minister noted that the transition to the concept of a green economy is inevitable to reduce the effects of climate change on the global economy, prevent global warming, or at least neutralize it. "Strengthening the principle of social partnership is of great importance for optimizing and managing the social risks that may arise during this transition period," he emphasized.

Aliyev stressed that achieving decent work based on the development of social dialogue is one of the main conditions for the successful implementation of measures during the transition to a green economy. "This necessitates the application of new approaches in the development of the labor sphere and social protection," he added.

The deputy minister highlighted that, as in previous years, all initiatives of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation in the field of protecting the labor and social rights and legitimate interests of workers play a special role during this transition period.
