Azerbaijan and UNEP to implement joint projects on environmental protection

Azerbaijan will implement joint projects on environmental protection with the UN Environment Program (UNEP), in 2026, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, President-designate of COP29 Mukhtar Babayev said, Report informs.
He made the statement at a briefing with Inger Andersen, the UN Deputy Secretary General, Executive Director of the UN Environment Program.
According to Babayev, the work done by Azerbaijan will be highlighted within the project.
The minister noted that discussions were held to organize construction waste disposal and reuse in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan with the support of the UN Environment Program (UNEP).
Babayev added that related work has been done mostly in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam.
