Azerbaijan stands out in the fight against climate change and Slovenians value such initiatives very much, Ambassador of Slovenia to Azerbaijan (residence in Ankara) Gorazd Rencelj told Report.
Commenting on COP29, which will be held in Baku in November 2024, the ambassador noted that a delegation from Slovenia will also participate in this international conference.
Emphasizing the importance of the COP for Slovenia, which has a population of just over 2 million, the ambassador said that the impact of climate change is more evident in small countries: “Our people feel the effects of climate change more and more every day. Last week, flooding hit Slovenia, which is not normal for our country, causing lots of difficulties.”
Stating that the fight against climate change is very important for Slovenia, the ambassador valued it as one of the common points in Azerbaijan-Slovenia cooperation: ‘In general, Azerbaijan stands out in holding international competitions and conferences. Each of these are a significant initiative.”
