As part of the Baku Climate Action Week, a session was held on the topic "Revolution in understanding greenhouse gas emissions - the role of empirical data, artificial intelligence and advanced analytics," Report informs.

The session was moderated by Ali Nagiyev, director of the Center for Excellence in Research, Development and Innovation at Baku State University.

Aslan Bashirzada, CEO of Advanced Technology Group, noted that the most important source of empirical data is historical data: "Now we are using new technologies to monitor emissions, including satellite imagery and drones. Artificial intelligence helps to efficiently process large volumes of data. This year we implemented a special project for SOCAR and we see that new technologies for emissions management are emerging. We should not only use foreign developments, but also develop our own solutions. We plan to implement remote gas emission control technology."

Rena Humbatova, head of the hydrogen and green technologies department at the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy, emphasized that the agency is developing artificial intelligence-based methods for collecting emissions data: "We are working on a national mobility strategy, aiming to improve forecasting. As part of this project, active energy consumers in Azerbaijan are already using solar panels on buildings."

Saleh Nabiyev, a specialist at the Geoinformation Systems Center of Azercosmos, reported that the organization is engaged in monitoring climate changes: "We track changes in glaciers, as well as the impact of climate change on the Caspian Sea and river basins."
