Reducing methane emissions is crucial in the fight against climate change, Professor Anna Korre from London Imperial College said at the panel session titled "Progress in Methane Mitigation: Advancing Global Methane Reduction" held within the framework of the Baku Climate Action Week, Report informs.
"Methane is responsible for approximately 30% of global warming. Rapid and sustained reduction of emissions of this gas can be an important tool to prevent short-term temperature rise and improve air quality," Korre stated.
According to her, methane significantly contributes to air pollution, therefore its reduction should be a priority issue for the global community.
