Minister: Georgia prioritizes development of 'green' jobs

Georgia emphasizes the development of "green" jobs, both in traditional sectors such as manufacturing and construction, and in new areas including renewable energy and energy efficiency, Minister of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia Mikhail Sarjveladze said at a roundtable within COP29.

According to Report, he said the Georgian government is expanding employment programs through state funding to support vulnerable population groups.

"Green jobs are decent work that contributes to environmental protection. The Georgian government is expanding state-funded employment programs, including vocational education and training courses for the unemployed through the digital platform WorkNet. These measures help thousands of citizens, especially in the regions," said Sarjveladze.

The minister added that "green" jobs are important not only for increasing employment but also for building a sustainable and prosperous future.
