Italian minister: Education policy can be most effective tool in transition to environmental sustainability

Education policy can be the most effective tool for directing the transition to technological innovation and environmental sustainability, Italy's Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara said during a joint session on "Baku Human Development Initiative for Climate Resilience" organized within the framework of COP29, Report informs.

"Climate change requires a comprehensive reassessment of our lifestyle. In this sense, the education sector can play a key role in acquiring knowledge and awareness. Scientific and cultural knowledge and competencies are important to enable people to distinguish between right and wrong information, as well as to develop potential for advancing climate action and creating sustainability. We believe in the scientific approach and think that economic growth and environmental protection should develop in parallel. Italy pays special attention to education, bioeconomy, protection of biodiversity and ecosystems for the sake of future generations," he emphasized.
