The Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan and COP29 Operating Company organized a trip to Shamakhi city for foreign media representatives, Report informs.
The media tour began with a visit to the unique two-story Diri Baba mausoleum, built in the 15th century.
Participants were told that this mausoleum, built by order of Shirvanshah Ibrahim I, is a monument of national importance. The unique feature of the structure is that it appears to be embedded into a rock, making it one of the unique architectural monuments of the Caucasus. Near the mausoleum are artificial caves, grottos, a medieval cemetery, and natural surroundings, forming a complete historical and cultural landscape.
Next, journalists visited the village of Damirchi, known for its centuries-old blacksmithing traditions. They were told that the village was formerly called Guneychay but was later renamed to Damirchi (blacksmith in Azerbaijani) due to the development of blacksmithing there. The village's history dates back to the 15th century, and it is considered one of the oldest settlements in Shamakhi.
The tour concluded with a visit to the Meysari winery complex, where journalists learned about Azerbaijan's viticulture.
