WB estimates potential productivity level in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani children born today will be able to reach only 58% of their potential productivity by the age of 18, Sarah Michael, WB country manager for Azerbaijan, said at the presentation of the new Human Capital Review for Azerbaijan, Report informs.

“Children and adolescents in Azerbaijan have relatively poor health and learning outcomes relative to the country’s income level. This leads to their lower productivity in the future.

The research showed that children who started education at the age of 4, at the age of 18 reach the actual time of education equal to only 8.3 years. Children born today can wait an average of only 0.9 years for tertiary education. At the same time, the probability of death from non-communicable diseases between the ages of 30 and 70 is very high and reaches 22%,” she added.
