Pakistani companies intend to have access to international markets through Azerbaijan

"There are ongoing discussions with more than 25 Pakistani companies related to pharmaceutical, surgical goods, sports goods, textile, IT, etc., to trade with Azerbaijan and trade with Azerbaijan and then export from Azerbaijan to other countries, President of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Economic Cooperation Chamber Khurram Bhatti told Report.

"Whenever I talk to Pakistani companies, I tell them that don't look at Azerbaijan just as one country. Due to its great geographical location, we consider Azerbaijan as a business hub. When products are brought into Azerbaijan, those could be re-exported to other CIS countries as customs-free under the Free Trade Agreements," he added.

According to him, a Rice Festival was held in Azerbaijan: "During this festival, we informed Pakistani exporters to consider Azerbaijan as a business hub for the CIS region, and by doing so, they will not be targeting around $50 million local markets but a larger regional market of more than $300 million. Last summer in 2021, a Mango festival was arranged by the Embassy of Pakistan in Azerbaijan, which was highly liked by our brothers and sisters of Azerbaijan. A large consignment of Mangoes was sent to Russia last year through Azerbaijan under the TIR regime. This year we again plan to conduct a Mango festival in Baku to start the import of Mangoes."
