Azerbaijan increases rice imports from Vietnam

Azerbaijan imported a total of 18,962 tons of rice, valued at $20 million during the first three months of 2024, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistics Committee.

The committee data shows that the imports fell by 14 percent in volume, while grew by 4 percent in value from the same period of 2023.

In January-March 2024, Azerbaijan purchased 14,407 tons (-28%) of rice from India worth $16.41 million (-7%), 1,624 tons ( +2.4 times) from China worth $1.31 million (+2.4 times), 1,349 tons from Vietnam (+13,490 times) worth $1.1 million (+5,440 times), 873 tons (+69%) from Pakistan worth $748,000 (+98 %), 572 tons (+36 times) from Türkiye worth $352,000 (+10 times).

In 2023, India was responsible for 82.5% of the rice imports to Azerbaijan, which totaled 54,591 tons from 25 different countries.
