Azerbaijan begins table salt exports to Mongolia

Azerbaijan exported 20,352 tons of table salt (iodized) worth $2.2 million during the first nine months of 2024, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistical Committee.

Compared to the corresponding period in 2023, the exports grew by 2.6 times in volume and 2.4 times in value.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan sold 13,805 tons (+3 times) to Russia for $1.2 million (+2.9 times), 5,901 tons (+59%) to Georgia for $953,000 (+62%), 539 tons (+5 times) to Kazakhstan for $44,000 (+4.5 times), 97 tons (-20%) to Ukraine for $9,100 (+36%), and 8.8 tons (+880 times) to Germany for $1,700 (+167 times).

In 2024, Azerbaijan exported table salt to Mongolia (0.84 tons worth $200) for the first time in 13 years, based on publicly available foreign trade statistics dating back to 2011.

Meanwhile, in 2023, a total of 10,793 tons of salt were exported from Azerbaijan to six countries, of which 56.2% went to Georgia and 41.6% to Russia.
