Azerbaijan begins importing lettuce from UAE

In January-May of 2025, Azerbaijan imported 624.2 tons of lettuce worth $445,000, representing a year-on-year increase of 25% and 26%, respectively, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased lettuce from:
- Iran: 223.79 tons (+31%) worth $441,000 (+32%);
- Spain: 0.36 tons worth $3,390 (no supply a year ago);
- Italy: 0.02 tons worth $310 (no supply a year ago);
- The Netherlands: 0.01 tons worth $140 (no supply a year ago);
- The United Arab Emirates (UAE): 0.01 tons of lettuce worth $8.
In 2025, Azerbaijan imported lettuce from the UAE for the first time in 14 years, based on publicly available foreign trade statistics dating back to 2011.
