Azer Amiraslanov: Service sector in Azerbaijan key sector for increasing employment

The non-oil sector, especially the service sector, is the main potential direction for increasing employment in Azerbaijan, Azer Amiraslanov, chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship of Milli Majlis, said at the Career Development Forum in Baku, according to Report.

"Azerbaijan's economic development priorities are aimed at sustainable growth. The oil and gas sector covers only 0.6% of employment, which is why the development of the non-oil sector becomes particularly important," he emphasized.

Amiraslanov noted the role of public-private partnership, emphasizing that support for small and medium-sized businesses contributes to economic growth and job creation.

"A successful career is not just about working under an employment contract. It's equally important to create your own business to contribute to economic development and create something valuable," he said.

Amiraslanov particularly highlighted the comprehensive measures implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population in recent years: "The ministry's work on developing employment strategy, regulating the labor market, and ensuring decent employment has yielded positive results."
