Azerbaijan starts importing bananas from Egypt

In January-February 2025, 11,028 tons of bananas (fresh, dried, others) worth $9.51 million were imported to Azerbaijan, according to the the State Statistical Committee, Report informs.

This is 19% more in value and 4.3% more in quantity than the same period in 2024.

During the mentioned period, Azerbaijan purchased 10,985 tons (+4.1%) of bananas worth $9.46 million (+19%) from Ecuador, 21.16 tons worth $17,000 from Egypt, 19.6 tons (-11%) worth $16,800 (+8%) from Costa Rica, 1.9 tons (no supplies were made last year) worth $11,770 from the Philippines, and 0.1 tons (-80%) worth $620 (-83%) from Thailand.

This year, for the first time in the last 14 years (note: the official statistics on foreign trade in public use are as of 2011), supplies were made from Egypt.
