Azerbaijan resumes seed potato imports from Belarus

Azerbaijan imported 3,900 tons of seed potatoes (-62%) worth $2.8 million (-33%) in the first 8 months of this year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

In the reporting period, 1,250 tons (+5.4 times) of seed potatoes worth $1.3 million (+5.7 times) were purchased from the Netherlands, 1,600 tons (+2.5 times) worth $767,200 (+3.5 times) from Türkiye, 566 tons (-42%) worth $580,300 (-39%) from Germany, 410 tons (-74%) worth $135,200 (-74%) from Ukraine, and 21.5 tons (there was no supply a year ago) worth $21,700 from Kyrgyzstan.

After 5 years and 1 month, Azerbaijan resumed the supply of seed potatoes from Belarus (42 tons worth $14,000).

Last year, 71.2% of the 37,961 tons of seed potatoes imported by Azerbaijan (from 7 countries) fell to the share of Russia.
