Azerbaijan resumes rice imports from two countries

In January-July of this year, Azerbaijan bought 36,818 tons of rice (+17%) worth $31.203 million (+35%) from abroad, Report informs, citing the data of the State Statistics Committee.
In the reporting period, 26,210 tons (+19.2%) worth $24.695 million (+37.2%) were brought from India, 4,566 tons (+38.4%) worth $2.71 million (+85%) from Kazakhstan, 4,147 tons (-2.1%) worth $2.354 million from Russia (+5.4%), 1,020 tons (+27%) worth $768,100 (+22.3%) from Thailand, and 663.53 tons (-32.3%) worth $480,510 (-28.6%) from Pakistan.
The supply from Uruguay was restored after a break of one year and seven months (19 tons worth $21,110), and from Peru after one year and three months (20 kg worth $50).
Of the 46,765 tons of rice imported by Azerbaijan (from 25 countries) last year, 64.6% came from India, 15% from Kazakhstan, 13.4% from Russia, 4.8% from Pakistan, and 1.7% from Thailand.
