Azerbaijan expands melon export markets in 2023

Azerbaijan exported melons to Estonia and Saudi Arabia for the first time in 13 years, according to the data of the State Statistical Committee of Republic of Azerbaijan, Report informs.
The official statistics on foreign trade in open use are as of 2011.
The country sold 6.8 tons of melons worth $2,000 to Estonia and 2.6 tons worth $24,600 to Saudi Arabia in 2023.
The total melon exports of Azerbaijan in 2023 amounted to 2,65 tons worth $627,000, which is a 13 percent decrease in value but a 29 percent increase in volume compared to 2022.
The main export destinations for Azerbaijan’s melons in 2023 were as follows:

The data shows that Ukraine and Georgia remained the top buyers of Azerbaijan’s melons, despite a significant drop in both value and volume. Russia increased its imports of melons from Azerbaijan by almost three times. Saudi Arabia and Moldova were new markets for Azerbaijan’s melons in 2023.
