In January-February 2024, 341,000 foreigners and stateless persons from 167 countries visited Azerbaijan, an increase of 46.7% more year-on-year, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, 26.8% of the tourists came from Russia, 19.9% from Türkiye, 9.8% from Iran, 6.9% from India, 4.8% from Georgia, 3.4% from Saudi Arabia, 2.7% from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kazakhstan and Pakistan each, 2.1% from Kuwait, 1.8% from Uzbekistan, 1.5% from Turkmenistan, 1.3% from Oman and Ukraine each, 1.1% from Belarus, and 11.2% from other countries.
Also, 73.9% of the visitors were men, while 26.1% were women.
Compared to January-February 2023, the number of arrivals from the Gulf countries increased by 1.7 times and reached 68,900 people. The number of visitors from the European Union went up by 1.6 times, to 11,100 people. Meanwhile, the number of visitors from the CIS countries soared by 31.4%, to 122,800.
The majority (67.6%) of foreigners and stateless persons who visited Azerbaijan in January-February 2024 arrived by plane.
