Azerbaijan received 832,000 tourists from 171 countries in January-July 2022, up 2.3-fold from the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
Among the tourists, 26.4% came from Russia, 21% from Turkiye, 11.6% from Iran, 6.8% from Saudi Arabia, 4.8% from Georgia, 3% from Pakistan, 2.6% from India, 2.5% from UAE, 2% from Ukraine, 1.9% from Kazakhstan, 1.5% from Kuwait, 1.4% from each of Israel and Oman, 1.2% from each of Great Britain and Uzbekistan, and 10.7% from other countries. Men constituted 75.3%, while women 24.7% of the foreigners.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of arrivals from Saudi Arabia increased by 351.2 times, from Kuwait by 166.6 times, Oman by 156.9 times, Pakistan by 31.9 times, India by 18.2 times, Bahrain by 8.6 times, the UAE by 7.3 times, Israel by 7.1 times, Kazakhstan by 5.8 times, the United States by 4.4 times, Germany by 3.2 times, France by 2.8 times, Great Britain by 2.1 times, Turkiye by 1.9 times, Iran by 1.8 times, Ukraine by 1.7 times, Russia by 1.7 times, and Georgia by 22.5%.
In contrast to a year earlier, the number of tourists from the Gulf countries grew by 3.4-fold to 202,900 people, from EU member states by 2.5 times to 41,900 people, from CIS countries by 1.8 times to 278,700 people.
