The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) has been awarded Best Global Partner and Excellent Partner of the Year among 60 different tourism destinations at the Trip.com Group Global Partner Summit held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Report informs, citing the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan.
More than 2,000 tourism industry experts from around the world participated in the international summit.
Trip.com Group, established in 1999, is China's largest travel holding company. It owns several travel service brands including Trip.com Group, Ctrip, Qunar, Trip.com, and Skyscanner, and serves travelers globally.
In September, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, Azerbaijan Tourism Board, and Trip.com Group to strengthen cooperation in tourism. The memorandum envisions active use of platforms such as Trip.com, Ctrip, Qunar, and others to promote Azerbaijan as an attractive destination for Chinese travelers.
Also, to expand awareness about Azerbaijan in the Chinese tourism industry and strengthen the country's presence in the Chinese market, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board organized a series of presentation events in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Beijing cities of the People's Republic of China from September 18 through 24.
In January-November 2024, the number of visitors from China to Azerbaijan reached 42,374 people, which represents nearly a twofold increase compared to the same period in 2023.
