After the adoption of a new state standard for halal tourism services based on international experience, the “halal hotel” certificate will be issued to tourist facilities in Azerbaijan, the State Tourism Agency said in response to Report's inquiry.
“If the hotels are interested, they will be able to pass halal certification and present themselves to their customers as a ‘halal hotel’,” the agency said.
Mammad Abbasbayli, the head of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control, said that the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute is drafting a new state standard for halal tourism services:
“The standard to be adopted this year will make a special contribution to the development of tourism in Azerbaijan. Thus, the main goal of the standard is to provide tourism services and products that meet Islamic rules.”
