Azerbaijan's tourism services balance showed $300M deficit in 2021

Compared to 2020, the turnover of mutual tourism services in Azerbaijan decreased by 22.1% to $900 million in 2021, Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

Last year, the value of imports of tourism services ($600 million) exceeded the value of exports ($300 million), resulting in a deficit of $300 million. During this period, the number of Azerbaijani citizens travelling abroad decreased by 16.3%, and the number of foreigners visiting Azerbaijan decreased by 0.5%.

Last year, foreign countries provided tourism services worth $561.6 million to Azerbaijani residents, 87% of which was related to personal visits of Azerbaijani citizens.

In the reporting period, the cost of construction services provided to non-residents in the non-oil sector decreased by 35.4% to $ 18.7 million. The cost of other business services paid to non-residents in the non-oil sector increased by 29% to $ 961 million.
