Azerbaijan posts over 4% increase in outbound tourist departures

In January 2025, the total number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad stood at 154,100, marking a 4.3% increase year-on-year, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
The majority of these travelers, 36.1%, visited Türkiye. Russia was the destination for 15.4% of travelers, while 11.7% chose Georgia and 10.7% visited Iran. The remaining 26.1% of Azerbaijani travelers went to various other countries.
Men dominated international travel, comprising 67.1% of outbound Azerbaijani tourists, while women accounted for 32.9%.
Air travel was the preferred mode of transport for 67.7% of Azerbaijanis venturing abroad in January of this year, while 29.8% opted for rail and road transport, and 2.5% chose sea routes.
