Azerbaijan advances eight positions in Travel and Tourism Development Index

Azerbaijan ranked 63rd among 117 countries in the World Economic Forum Travel and Tourism Development Index 2021, Report informs, citing the World Economic Forum.
According to the information, this means an advance of 8 positions compared to the 2019 index.
Among the region's countries, Georgia ranked 44th, Turkiye was 45th, and Kazakhstan was 66th.
According to the statement, sanctions imposed against Russia due to the war with Ukraine and travel restrictions have created pressure on the tourism sector, increased travel time and costs. However, Russian citizens are the main visitors to various destinations such as Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkiye, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Thailand.
