Azer Amiraslanov: Azerbaijan has real potential for developing premium and luxury tourism

Azerbaijan has real prospects for the development of premium and luxury tourism sectors, Azer Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Committee of the Milli Majlis, said during today's parliamentary plenary session.

Report quotes her as saying global experience shows construction and infrastructure projects on artificially created lands require substantial investment. Such initiatives open wide opportunities for entrepreneurship, promote regional development, and lay the foundation for new economic platforms.

The MP emphasized that the creation of artificial land plots and the development of modern infrastructure on them are clear examples of the country's innovative approach, as well as its economic and financial capacity.

"The most promising direction in this field is the development of premium and luxury tourism. Azerbaijan has both the initiatives and the potential to support this. The segment must be accompanied by high-quality service, modern infrastructure, comfortable recreation conditions, and additional entertainment opportunities," he stated.

Amiraslanov also noted that the draft law "On the Creation of Artificial Land Plots in the Azerbaijani Sector of the Caspian Sea (Lake)" provides a legal framework for entrepreneurship, including the development of gaming tourism as a component of premium tourism. He stressed, however, that this is not about promoting or encouraging gambling but rather about implementing strict regulatory mechanisms.

"Unlike the liberal approach taken in some countries, Azerbaijan will ensure strict control and regulation, reflecting a conservative stance in the implementation of the project," the parliamentarian added.
