The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan has created a shelter for 30 people in the city of Khankandi for people from vulnerable population groups, Report informs.
For this, a three-storey building with 30-bed bedrooms, water, electricity system, kitchen, sanitary junction, rest room and laundry room was allocated in the center of Khankandi. The cleaning and appropriate equipment work has been completed in the building, and the reception of residents to the shelter started on October 10, 2023.
They are provided with hot meals and snacks 3 times a day. The external security of the shelter is provided by the police.
2 psychologists and 2 social workers were sent to the city of Khankandi from September 30 of this year to work in the shelter, where they assessed the basic needs and psycho-social condition of the residents. They were given information about the location of the shelter and food supply.
6 people have already been placed in the shelter, 1 person has been referred for the relevant medical services, and a total of 11 people have used the services of the shelter.
The psychologists and social workers are currently rendering social services to shelter residents. A cook, technicians and others have also been assigned to work in the shelter.
Placement in the shelter is voluntary, and those who don't want to stay overnight are provided with food, necessary clothing and social services 3 times a day.
Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross also visit the shelter several times a day, get familiarized with the conditions, the provision of food and social services.
