MP: Educational work should be conducted in schools about impact of Islamophobia on women's lives

Educational work should be conducted in schools about the impact of Islamophobia on women's lives, according to Gulshan Pashayeva, Azerbaijani MP, and a member of the Management Board of the Center for the Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), Report informs.

Pashayeva shared this insight during the international conference themed "Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas" in Baku, Report informs.

According to her, unlike men, women wearing hijab or niqab make their religious beliefs known:

"Some forces portray this negatively. Muslim women face various restrictions and discrimination. They encounter such situations in workplaces, educational institutions, as well as when trying to build their careers. Schools can also conduct educational work in this area on media literacy and the impact of Islamophobia on women."

The MP also stated that Azerbaijan is a unique example of multiculturalism: "Azerbaijan was the first country to grant women the right to vote in 1918. This tradition continues, and Azerbaijani women demonstrate their strength everywhere."
