Farid Shafiyev: Fight against Islamophobia occupies important place in Azerbaijan's foreign policy

The fight against Islamophobia occupies an important place in Azerbaijan's foreign policy, Farid Shafiyev, the Chairman of the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), said at an international scientific conference themed "Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas," held in Baku, Report informs.

Shafiyev said that interest in conferences on Islamophobia is growing year by year:

"This is the third conference on Islamophobia. In general, Islamophobia is not only a theoretical but also a practical problem for us."

Shafiyev noted that there are many types of Islamophobia and Azerbaijan has also faced such situations:

"Although Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan is not a religious war, many cemeteries and mosques have been destroyed repeatedly within this framework."

The AIR Center head added that the conference aims to bring together politicians, foreign experts and media representatives present here, rather than adopting a relevant document, and to take practical steps against Islamophobia.
