Chairman of State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations meets Bishop of Baku and Azerbaijan

On March 7, the Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan Ramin Mammadov met with the head of the Baku and Azerbaijan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, Bishop of Baku and Azerbaijan Alexy, Report informs.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the State Committee Ramin Mammadov emphasized that the atmosphere of tolerance and the culture of coexistence in Azerbaijan have been further strengthened in accordance with the state-religion concept.

As a continuation of the tradition founded by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, he spoke about the high attention and care shown to religious confessions in Azerbaijan, the work done to protect their spiritual heritage, and the policy implemented by President Ilham Aliyev in this direction.

Noting that financial assistance is regularly allocated to support religious confessions in Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Committee noted that strengthening the traditions of tolerance is one of the important areas to which the state pays special attention.

Bishop of Baku and Azerbaijan Alexy emphasized the role played by Azerbaijan in promoting interfaith dialogue, developing tolerance, and multicultural values. At the same time, he expressed his appreciation for the attention the state pays to religious communities.
