Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan, met with Jannah Scott, the CEO of the American Center for Religious Freedom (ACRF) and the Founder and Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center in the United States, Report informs, citing the state committee.
During the meeting, Mammadov emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev pays special attention to the development of traditions of tolerance and multicultural values in Azerbaijan. He noted that state-religion relations in the country are based on solid foundations.
He highlighted that people from different cultures living together and feeling part of social life helps society become more inclusive and dynamic.
The chairman also pointed out that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to this principle. In this sense, multiculturalism, which society accepts as a way of life, and the promotion of interreligious harmony are priority areas of state policy.
Jannah Scott was informed about the work done and projects implemented in the field of tolerance in Azerbaijan.
ACRF CEO stated that the main goal of developing intercultural relations at local and global levels in various aspects is to build positive relationships between different cultures, strengthen social ties and expand concepts related to human rights.
She positively assessed the harmonious and peaceful coexistence of representatives of various cultures and religions in Azerbaijan, as well as the work done to promote the country's multicultural environment as a progressive model.
The meeting also included discussions on future projects.
